I think my husband would say that I am a littttttttle bit of an Amazon junkie. In my defense, I think every mother these days is a bit of an Amazon junkie, and when you don’t live in a large town with Target on every corner, you really become an Amazon junkie. For example, one day when we got home from vacation my son actually asked: “where are all of the boxes?” because when we get home from anything, 95% of the time there is an Amazon box waiting patiently on my front doorstep. I LOVE Amazon and buy virtually everything from that website.
A few months ago, I was reading another Mommy Blog and there was a post about the editor’s favorite Amazon purchases from that month. It really intrigued me! I always want to know about “the next best thing” or what products will make my life easier and skin more translucent. Being that I am such a fan of the website, I wanted to create a blog post about a few of my favorite purchases from the summer in hopes that other women will also share their latest and greatest finds. And as always, happy shopping!
Top 5 Amazon Purchases From Summer:
5. Slip Sleep Mask
OK, I have never been one for a sleep mask but a few of my friends – and I can’t believe this, one of my close guy friends – changed my mind-set. There are a ton of sleep masks out there but this one is totally worth the price because it’s soft around your face and doesn’t leave marks when you wake up. Admittedly, it took me a while to get used to it but some benefits are sounder and more peaceful sleep. It’s worth the try, you can buy it here.
4. Gel Manicure Set
I think a claim-to-fame of mine is being oddly good at giving myself a manicure. My nails are done 85% of the time and I rarely get manicures (I do, however, leave the pedicures to the pros). My friend’s joke that I should work at a nail salon and I can take gel polish off like a pro without so much as making one scratch on my nail beds. With that being said, a home gel kit won’t be for everyone but if you do your own nails, you might love it as I do! It takes about 20 minutes, the polish is 100% dry when you are finished, and your manicure lasts over a week with no chipped polish! That’s pretty amazing considering how much my hands are in water. Keep in mind there is a con with the LED lamp that cures the polish, you might want to give your skin a break from the lamp every so often or use sunscreen. I bought the Azure Gel Manicure set but this one seems to be popular as well.
3. Make-Up Brush Cleansing Pad
I would have never put this on my list 6 months ago… that is until I got my first eye stye using an un-cleaned make-up brush and I realized how absolutely disgusting my brushes were. You always hear horror stories and diseases us ladies contact because we never wash our make-up brushes or we use make-up that is past it’s prime. I am here to tell you – WASH YOUR BRUSHES and throw away your old make-up! This little pad was super cheap and makes washing my brushes simple and quick. Keeping it with my make-up stash is a good reminder to stay clean. You can buy it here.
2. DNA Test
A little DNA test was a huge part of helping gain my sanity back. Very long story short – because I have been brutally open and honest about my mental health issues – I have a gene mutation that makes me more susceptible to mental health diseases. Because of this mutation, my body can not process anti-anxiety/depression meds unless I am not on a very specific vitamin. All of this was found by taking a DNA test. I want to make sure you are aware that in order to see this portion of the results, you need the help of a health professional to read your test which is obviously a further expense. But if you are curious about your heritage, this is a great test. I happen to have found even further information that was a lifesaver. You can buy 23andMe or AncestryDNA all through Amazon.
1. Wine Magic Drops
This little gem was suggested to me by one of my favorite girlfriends. She’s that friend who is always up-to-date on the latest and greatest and one of the best hosts out there. So when she came to visit with these little drops in tow, you knew it was a good find. If you are sensitive to the sulfites in wine but enjoy a glass every now and then, these are perfect to take on-the-go when you don’t have access to a wine purifier (which was also a great purchase, I have the Ullo and it’s perfection!). Just one drop in your wine glass and you will feel great in the morning (& no, it does not affect the taste). You can find Wine Magic here.
