I hope everyone was able to view my last blog post on 15 under $15! If you haven’t yet taken a look, you can find it here. And here is the follow up: kitchen items under $75 that all kitchens should have! Once again, I asked a variety of women – cooks vs. non-cooks, bakers vs. non-bakers, working moms vs. SAHM’s – their opinion on what is important and what items they value in the kitchen. Next month I will publish the final blog post of this series: kitchen items over $100 that everyone should splurge on!
Here it is, the 10 best kitchen items under $75:
Hot Air Popcorn Popper
I love myself a popcorn maker (if it wasn’t obvious enough from my recipe post specifically about popcorn recipes)! Every time my son asks if we can make popcorn I know he’s in the mood for a family movie afternoon – one of my favorites! Yes, the microwave kind is easy but so bad for you and popping kernels on the stove? Forget about it. Every member of the family benefits from this one!

Multi-Purpose Grill/Panini Press
I registered for one of these during my engagement and never used it until recently. These things are so versatile from making delicious sandwiches to cooking meat. They have also come a long way in price, you can now buy a good one for less than $100 which was unheard of 5 years ago. If you love yourself some sandwiches, splurge on this.
You can find a good one here.
GreenPan Non-Stick FryPan
OK, I don’t actually own one of these… yet (which is crazy given we are in the middle of making our home chemical-free). My girlfriend did some research on non-chemical pans and this was her final choice on the best one. You can find these on Amazon but grab one of those Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons laying on the ground and you’ve got yourself a very cheap new kitchen gadget!

OXO Food Containers
I just finished KonMari’ing my home and these are all up in my pantry! It makes me happy every time I see my cereal and pasta clearly displayed on the shelf. You can find cheaper storage but these are so pretty AND they keep food very fresh with the lock and seal top.

This was a saving grace for us when we were figuring out my daughter’s allergies. No pasta for us but she passed all sorts of veggies. I also use this when I make carrot or zucchini muffins and my kids never know the lovely ingredients are inside. Win win for all!

Portable Espresso Maker
I mean, did you even know something like this existed?! Talk about a good score that every Mama could use! If you are familiar with the Nespresso line, this uses the same pods and it doesn’t confine you to one type, you can choose which size you like – ristretto to lungi – with various water tank options at a featherweight!
You can find one here.
If you are a baker, I am sure you own one of these. The reason this made my list is mainly because of the storage that comes with it. Over the years, I have accumulated various mixing additions and I can never find the correct fit to my handheld mixer, this solves that problem. A handheld mixer really does make baking easier and always helps the texture and consistencies of various doughs. If you don’t have one, buy it now and you will notice a difference.

Digital Meat Thermometer
I think this is every man’s best friend. My husband and my friend’s husbands all swear by their meat thermometer and this is a good one. It’s small, easy to use, works well, and it’s consistent. Take the guessing out of your BBQ game and buy one of these little guys.

Apple Corer Peeler Slicer
This might seem like the weirdest kitchen tool ever but I use it more than I thought I would. If you are a fan of making homemade apple crisp, pie, or apple sauce, this is a lifesaver! It cuts the cutting and coring of apples in half so you can get all the credit of these delicious dishes without getting arthritis doing so. Another bonus is my son loves helping with this tool. I place the apple on the device and he turns the wheel. It’s like a science project to him and he eats the apples along the way. Bonus!

Electric Can Opener
I can’t tell you how many times I have sliced my hand on the top of a can directly after opening. I feel like every can opener is harder to use than the last so I think it’s time to throw them all away and cut yourself a break. Having this nifty tool makes opening cans a breeze and it doesn’t take up much space. Ditch the old and in with the new!
