I hope everyone was able to view my last two blog post’s: 15 under $15 and the best kitchen items under $75! Once again, I asked a variety of women – cooks vs. non-cooks, bakers vs. non-bakers, working moms vs. SAHM’s – their opinion on what is important and what items they value in the kitchen. This week finalizes my research on Splurgeable-worthy kitchen items. Enjoy and good luck picking what you really want!
1. Ice-Cream Maker
This item was still in a box after 3 years of owning it but it became very handy last summer – for the first time – when we were discovering all of my daughter’s allergies. Most ice-cream is unedible for Her so unless I want to make my own, She can’t eat ice-cream. And what child should live without eating ice-cream once in a while? This also makes a great toddler activity because every child loves ice-cream and when they are helping, it becomes an even more exciting treat!
We have this one and love it.
2. Ember Coffee Mug
I know it seems crazy to buy a coffee mug with a price tag larger than $100, but this is totally worth it! Have you seen all of those memes about mom’s drinking cold coffee because they are always busy doing something else? This takes care of that! You set the temperature how you like and it keeps it that temperature! I love love this product, in fact, I’m drinking out of this very minute!
You can buy it here.
3. Hurom Slow Juicer
I am writing specifically about the Hurom brand because I own one and can speak to it, however, these may come cheaper with a different brand. I have been all about juicing for the last 7 years and even though it’s a huge pain to wash every vegetable and clean this machine, I notice a big difference when I juice. And more than that, my kids love juicing and they help me do it. The reason you buy a slow juicer vs. the Vitamix (also on this list but for different reasons), is because a slow juicer has the ability to extract a consistent quality and quantity of juice. This helps my kids drink it as well as myself. Who wants to drink a ton of kale pulp? Nope.
These are all over Amazon, I bought mine at Williams-Sonoma eight years ago and it hasn’t let me down since, therefore, that’s the link you get.
4. Vitamix Blender
I had mixed feelings about putting the Vitamix on this list. The truth is that I do not own one, but every single person who does own one swears by them. So I did a little research – why the splurge? The simple reason is this: the same reason a serious baker splurges on the KitchenAid mixer, a different person who is crazy about smoothies… or nut-butter… or soups… or making the perfect sauce, would want the Vitamix. It does everything and does it well.
You can buy it here and apparently the classic 5200 is the one you want.
5. Instant Pot
This is another kitchen gadget I took a while to hop on board with. But, as I have mentioned over and over, my daughter’s allergies are a #1 concern in our household and you can make a laundry list of items with the Instant Pot that you can’t with a slow cooker. For example, our family is obsessed with the homemade coconut yogurt I make that is dairy-free (and FPIES safe! Recipe here). I need some new recipes for this thing, however, so send over any you and your family love!
You can buy it here and the various sizes are all different prices.
6. Nespresso Maker
We are obsessed with Nespresso products over here! George Clooney said “yes” to these commercials for a reason – this stuff tastes as good as He looks! I am the coffee-maker in our household so when I stopped drinking coffee during pregnancy, this was a lifesaver for my husband. The bonus, Nespresso ships incredibly fast so you can get the machines and coffee pods to go with them in 24 hours!
My suggestion is buying the product directly from their website, however, Macy’s carries this line and they are always having sales!
7. Nespresso Frother
Another Nespresso product we are obsessed with! I love lattes and this fancy frother makes the perfect milk to go with my espresso. But, what we use this product for the most is something called “Griffin Coffee” where we make frothy milk for my son and add a touch of sugar or honey on top and he thinks it’s dessert. Win win for all!
You can buy it here.
8. GreenPan Set
I mentioned this brand and product in my last blog post (best items under $75) about going green and chemical-free. The good news, you can buy an entire set! If you really want to take the plunge and just order your entire set, here it is. Don’t forget that these are available on Amazon but if you have a coupon for Bed, Bath, and Beyond, this could get much cheaper!
You can find the set here.
9. Breville Toaster Oven
Toaster Oven’s are a staple in my house and my girlfriend swears by the Breville brand. After doing some research, this little gadget can actually adjust to your taste-liking and remembers it on all settings… what?! That’s pretty amazing, I might have to pick one of these up!
Lots of options but this seems like the most common choice.
10. Pizza Maker
Is it just me or is homemade pizza all the rage lately? With all the allergies going around, homemade everything is all the rage and this is no exception. I say this ad nauseam but anything that includes my kids I am a fan of as activities are huge in my house to keep the littles busy. I did a cooking class with my son a few months ago and I noticed that if he has a part in cooking, he is more likely to try the food. Pizza dinners are great because everyone can make their own and likely nothing will go to waste!
You can find a good one here (Amazon options were not great, FYI).
And that’s all folks! What will you be splurging on this month? Happy shopping!
